Empowering the Next Generation: Teaching Engineering Students in Kremenchuk

In January 2025, the Heat for Humanity team embarked on a transformative 30-hour journey from Bristol to Kremenchuk, Ukraine. Our mission: to deliver 11 stove kits to Kremenchuk Vocational College and share our knowledge with the next generation of Ukrainian engineers. This was more than just a delivery—it was a step toward empowering students and equipping them with the skills to make a lasting impact on their community.

To support our journey, we were generously supplied with a vehicle by British-Ukrainian Aid, who also helped coordinate the logistics of this important mission. The vehicle not only enabled us to transport the stove kits but was also delivered to British-Ukrainian Aid’s partners in Ukraine, ensuring continued support for vital relief efforts in the country.

Upon arrival, we spent time with the students and engineers, teaching them the intricate process of stove assembly and welding. From the initial design to the final touches, the students learned how to construct each stove from the ground up. The hands-on workshops were not only an opportunity for technical training but also a chance to connect with the students, who expressed great enthusiasm and pride in their newfound skills. The stoves themselves were described as "superb" by the engineers—a true testament to the quality and functionality of the kits.

These 11 stoves are destined for families in Ukraine who are struggling with the harsh winter months. Through the college’s established network of partners, the stoves will be distributed to those in need, providing warmth and hope in an uncertain time. The college’s involvement in the project ensures that the impact of our work will extend far beyond this one delivery, creating a ripple effect that will continue to support Ukrainians facing dire conditions in 2025 and beyond.

This visit to Kremenchuk Vocational College not only provided practical solutions to those in need but also helped build a lasting partnership—one grounded in education, innovation, and the shared goal of bringing warmth and stability to the communities we serve. Together, we are creating a brighter, more sustainable future for Ukraine, one stove at a time.
